Designs by Regina X. Jiron, Bead Artist

There's always been a creative side of me begging to come out in whatever form. As a child, I was constantly creating something from scraps of materials I would find around our house. I taught myself to knit, crochet, sew, draw, paint - you name the craft, I have done it.

Then I discovered beads. I was hooked. What began as a hobby has turned into a full-blown passion with the launch of my etsy shop, BeadJewelryShopgirl, in 2006 to feature my jewelry creations.

My design style is bold and contemporary, not for the faint-hearted. I like to think it's excess within control. Who would think these simple tiny beads when put together in the hundreds (or even thousands!) could create a different look, a different structure, a different feel, every time I find new ways of weaving them together?

Putting them together, bead by tiny bead. It's intense and highly focused work, coaxing them against one another, combining shapes, sizes, and colors, resulting in a unique piece every time. I love coming up with different textures especially when there is a tactile and visual contrast. Like when something I've created that looks heavy, bumpy and stiff is actually light and flexible!

Each beading creation is unpredictable and exciting for me. As if life wasn't demanding enough, I'm now also creating framed beaded art and sculptures. Oh, boy!

Bead on!
